the beats I made for this track evolve their way, by about the 8:08 mark (all puns shamelessly intended), into something that's very directly inspired by those that beats we made, as kids, at the back of the school bus in elementary school... a fist pounding in an opportune place for the bass, & a nickel--or even a quarter, if you were rich that day--in your left hand for that cracking snare. those impromptu sessions, along with the "go-go" style rhythms at pep rallies in middle & high school... (which kicks in around 10:25 or so.) the "go-go" thing was real big where I grew up in virginia. it was present in everybody's blood... at least any & all of us who welcomed it. I certainly did. that stuff is very much in my blood. I hope that you can dig it.... (I know that you can. I do greatly appreciate that fact.)
